A concert four continents wide, an audience of over 1 million people, and a world cry against poverty."Amazing" is barely the word that can describe the tremendous feat of the Live 8 concerts; yet, a simple online search of reactions to Live 8 show that many are worried the concerts aren't enough or do nothing more than hand celebrities a double-dose of fame.
I think we need to take a step back, here. Music is, indeed, for our listening pleasure and is not meant to cure social issues. But it is also one heck of a catalyst when it comes to banding comrades, cultures, and nations together. What better way is there to start an uprising than with song? What is more inspiring than finding solace in thought-provoking lyrics and a moving tune?
